Development Update 2026/07

Back to news

Throughout the month, we continued strengthening both the enterprise capabilities of the Inheriti® ecosystem and the infrastructure that supports it. Our development efforts focused on expanding Inheriti® Elements, providing partners with greater flexibility to integrate digital continuity capabilities into their existing products, services, and operational environments, while further advancing Inheriti® Business to deliver enhanced governance, orchestration, and enterprise-grade security across complex technology ecosystems. Alongside these platform enhancements, we successfully upgraded all public Vechain Testnet and Mainnet clusters to the latest version, ensuring Vechain blockchain infrastructure remains secure, stable, and fully aligned with the latest network advancements. Together, these improvements reinforce our commitment to delivering a resilient, enterprise-ready ecosystem designed for long-term scalability, operational reliability, and continuous innovation.

Strengthening Enterprise Integration with Inheriti® Elements

As enterprise adoption continues to grow, we have been further expanding Inheriti® Elements to deliver an even more comprehensive and flexible integration platform for our partners. Throughout the month, our focus has been on enhancing the underlying architecture, strengthening interoperability between modules, and simplifying how organizations incorporate digital continuity capabilities into their existing products, services, and operational workflows.

A key priority has been ensuring that every component within the platform works together as part of a unified ecosystem while remaining independently deployable. This gives organizations the freedom to implement only the capabilities they require today, while providing a clear path to expand their deployments as business requirements evolve. Whether integrating secure digital inheritance, governance, recovery workflows, cryptographic services, or future platform capabilities, partners benefit from a consistent architecture designed to scale with their needs.

We have also continued refining the developer and integration experience by improving consistency across platform interfaces, streamlining deployment workflows, and enhancing communication between individual modules. These ongoing improvements reduce implementation complexity while making it easier for enterprise teams to integrate Inheriti® technology into existing infrastructures without disrupting established operations.

Rather than requiring organizations to replace proven infrastructure, Inheriti® Elements is designed to complement and extend it. Existing identity providers, HSMs, cloud platforms, vaults, and internal security systems can continue operating as they do today, while Inheriti® Elements introduces additional capabilities that enhance resilience, governance, and digital continuity across the broader ecosystem.

As the platform continues to evolve, our objective remains unchanged: to provide a modular enterprise foundation that enables organizations to adopt advanced digital continuity capabilities at their own pace. By delivering flexible building blocks instead of rigid solutions, Inheriti® Elements empowers partners to create secure, scalable, and future-ready services while preserving the technology investments they have already made.

The Missing Layer in Enterprise Security

For years, enterprise security has focused on protecting individual components. Vaults safeguard secrets, Key Management Systems (KMS) manage encryption keys, Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) secure cryptographic operations, cloud providers protect infrastructure, and identity platforms manage users and permissions. Each of these technologies plays an essential role, and organizations have invested heavily in building increasingly sophisticated security stacks.

Yet despite these investments, one fundamental challenge remains. The infrastructure itself is rarely the weakest point. The real vulnerability lies in the fact that nothing governs all of these systems together.

Most organizations have built their security architecture one layer at a time. Private keys are stored in one system, legal documentation in another, recovery credentials somewhere else, while identity policies and access permissions are managed independently across multiple platforms. Individually, each component may be highly secure, but collectively they often create governance gaps, operational complexity, and fragmented control. As organizations grow, regulations evolve, personnel change, and infrastructure becomes more distributed, maintaining consistent governance across disconnected systems becomes increasingly difficult. The greatest risks rarely originate from a compromised vault or failed HSM—they emerge from the spaces between them.

Inheriti® Business was built to address this challenge. Rather than replacing existing security infrastructure, it acts as a governance and orchestration layer that unifies multiple security technologies into a single, coordinated architecture. Organizations can continue using their preferred HSM vendors, existing vaults, cloud environments, and internal infrastructure while introducing centralized governance across the entire ecosystem. This approach protects previous technology investments while adding a new layer of resilience, visibility, and operational control.

At the core of this architecture is a distributed security model. Instead of relying on a single location to protect sensitive information, Inheriti® Business distributes encrypted secret fragments together with their corresponding key fragments across multiple independent storage layers, including Inheriti® Chain, Inheriti® HSM, Inheriti® Vault, client-managed HSMs, private cloud environments, and enterprise-controlled infrastructure. No single storage layer contains the complete secret, and no individual environment possesses the entire encryption key. Even if one component were compromised, it would never contain sufficient information to reconstruct protected assets on its own, significantly reducing single points of failure while strengthening long-term operational resilience.

However, protecting data is only one part of the equation. Equally important is determining who can access information, under which conditions, and when that access should be granted. This is where governance becomes the defining layer. Inheriti® Business introduces centralized role-based access controls, authentication policies, approval workflows, moderation mechanisms, and recovery conditions that operate consistently across the entire infrastructure. Instead of managing security policies independently within each individual platform, organizations define governance once and enforce it across the complete ecosystem, delivering greater consistency, stronger compliance, improved operational efficiency, and significantly reduced organizational risk.

Building Digital Continuity Through Distributed Trust

One of the core principles behind Inheriti® Business is that trust should never be concentrated in a single location, system, or decision point.

The protected secret.

The cryptographic key required to decrypt that secret.

The authorization to use that key.

These three elements are intentionally separated across independent infrastructure and governed through centralized policies. By ensuring they are never stored or controlled together, organizations significantly reduce the likelihood that a single incident can compromise their most critical digital assets.

This distributed trust model extends beyond encryption. It creates a governance framework that connects cloud environments, HSMs, vaults, legal processes, identity management, and recovery workflows into a unified architecture designed for long-term resilience.

As organizations continue to expand across increasingly complex digital ecosystems, business continuity depends not only on securing individual components, but on governing how those components work together.

Inheriti® Business was built to provide that missing layer.

Because the future of enterprise security is not about adding another vault or another HSM. It is about ensuring that every layer of security operates as part of a single, coordinated system—one that protects not only digital assets, but the long-term continuity of the organization itself.

Vechain Nodes Upgrade

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a secure and reliable infrastructure, all public Vechain Testnet and Mainnet clusters have been successfully upgraded to the latest Thor v2.4.4-05d8c16c-release. Keeping our infrastructure aligned with the latest network releases ensures continued stability, performance, and compatibility for developers, enterprise partners, and applications building on the Vechain ecosystem. By proactively adopting the newest software updates, we continue to strengthen the foundation that supports our services while providing a secure, resilient, and up-to-date environment for innovation.
