Flash Development Update [2023/37]

Back to news

In a recent revelation, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin confirmed that the recent hack of his X (Twitter) account was a result of a SIM-swap attack. Speaking on the decentralized social media network Warpcast, Buterin disclosed that he has successfully regained control of his T-Mobile account after the hacker gained unauthorized access through this attack.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical need to enhance our security measures.

We encourage all our community members to bolster their security by acquiring a SafeKey for robust 2FA protection of their online accounts, and avoid using your phone number as much as you can.

Next to that, this week has also been monumental for SafeSwap as we continue to broaden its reach, consequently expanding the reach of our entire ecosystem.

SafeSwap, our cross-chain bridge utilizing atomic swaps, is at the heart of this expansion, enabling seamless transfers of native tokens across more and more chains.

Let’s dive into what happened this week! 👇

Optimism is Now Live on SafeSwap’s Testnet

After receiving an Optimism builders grant, we are in the process of integrating the Optimism blockchain into SafeSwap. Currently it’s already live on testnet and internal testing is going on.

Whether you’re already knee-deep in building on Optimism or you’re itching to expand your own token or dapp to the Optimism blockchain, this integration is exactly for you.

Picture this: a future where you have the power to create applications that seamlessly traverse multiple blockchains, without being limited to the features of only one.

Not longer being tied to a single chain with your token or dapp, is like having a universal key that unlocks the doors to the unique strengths of different blockchains.

Builders, let’s create a multichain future together!

Opportunities for Builders

The recent integration of Base, and ongoing integration of Optimism, unlocks a world of possibilities for developers, but also for users.

By enabling atomic token swaps across multiple blockchains, SafeSwap empowers developers to create applications that seamlessly interact with multiple blockchains.

Building on previous integrations with vechain, Ethereum, Polygon, and BNB Chain, we are taking a “blockchain-agnostic” approach for our ecosystem through SafeSwap, aiming to provide users and developers with the flexibility to move native tokens securely between different chains.

SafeSwap’s expansion to Base and Optimism has the potential to significantly impact user engagement and project growth. By enabling cross-chain atomic swaps, developers now possess a powerful tool to reach users from diverse blockchain communities.

This broader reach fosters adoption and deeper engagement, paving the way for a more inclusive and interconnected blockchain ecosystem.

SafeSwap’s integration with Base and Optimism paints a promising picture of a multichain future for dapp developers. No longer confined by the limitations of a single blockchain, developers are now free to explore the potential of multiple blockchain networks, without having to leave their current community and achievements behind.

This evolution opens the door to a multitude of possibilities, offering richer user experiences and innovative solutions that transcend the constraints of any single blockchain.

Earn Rewards with SafeSwap

An additional benefit of expanding SafeSwap to more blockchains is that our community has now a bigger pool to find projects to list on SafeSwap, and earn up to $300 rewards.

If you’re a big fan of SafeSwap’s atomic swapping protocol and want to get involved while scoring some sweet rewards, here’s your chance.

So, what’s the deal?

It’s simple!

Just help us find developers and projects that want to go cross-chain and build multichain dapps without playing around with wrapped tokens or messing up their token supply.

To participate, visit https://safeswap.io/commission and send us the details about the project looking to make the cross-chain move.

But remember, their native token needs to be on one of these blockchains: vechain, Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, Base and soon Optimism.

If you’re the first one to tip us off about a project that leads to a listing or even full whitelabel integration, we’ll send $300 your way.

Sounds good, right?

The Importance (and Limitations) of 2FA

The traditional approach of relying solely on passwords has proven to have limitations and risks. Ensuring the security of your online accounts has become more crucial than ever.

Passwords can easily be compromised through various means such as phishing attacks, data breaches, or even simple guesswork.

Additionally, many people tend to reuse passwords or choose weak ones, leaving their accounts vulnerable to unauthorized access.

While 2FA enhances security, it is important to acknowledge that these 2FA codes and authenticator apps are not foolproof.

Hackers have been known to employ sophisticated techniques to bypass 2FA, such as SIM swapping or even social engineering to get hold on your 2FA code in one way or another.

Case in point: Vitalik Buterin’s recent incident. Scammers took over his X account, luring users into a malicious link, resulting in substantial financial losses.

A SIM-swap or simjacking attack is a technique used by hackers to gain control of a victim’s mobile phone number. With control of the number, scammers can reset passwords or use two-factor authentication (2FA) to access social media, bank, and crypto accounts.

These methods can undermine the effectiveness of 2FA, highlighting the need for additional security measures.

By incorporating SafeKey into your 2FA process, you can stay one step ahead of cybercriminals and ensure the safety of your online presence.

Don’t wait any longer to empower your accounts with 2FA and SafeKey for a secure digital experience.

New SafeNode Milestone: 500 Connect Nodes

Last week, we achieved a significant milestone by reaching over 500 Connect Nodes, bringing our grand total to a whopping 918 Safe Nodes! 🥳🎉

Safe Nodes act as a community appreciation and retention element. Various benefits are given to those who maintain a Safe Node over a period of time. The time periods are set to support stability within the SHA Tokenomics model.

Rewards are set based on the type of Safe Node held and a tiered tenure-based model. Benefits are claimed by the token-holders through the use of SafeNode, our mobile application.

Are you interested in setting up your own Safe Node? It only takes 1 million $SHA to get started!

The State and Future of Safe Haven

We recently got asked if SafeSwap is our main focus at this point.

Let’s zoom out a bit and see the bigger picture.

In understanding Safe Haven’s trajectory, it’s important to grasp that while Inheriti® remains the flagship product, Safe Haven is a holistic ecosystem of more than one product.

Inheriti® is tightly interwoven with SafeKey, Comet, and SafeSwap. Think of them as essential gears in a well-oiled machine.

So while the development of Inheriti 2.0 remains a priority and is progressing diligently, it’s all part of a larger, interconnected narrative.

Comet, our wallet for Web3, is another vital piece of this intricate puzzle. As we approach a public beta round for Comet 2.0, we reinforce our commitment to a seamless user experience.

But, Safe Haven has also adopted a multichain vision, steering toward a blockchain-agnostic approach for the whole ecosystem.

That’s why you might notice the spotlight on SafeSwap lately—we’re expanding it to two more blockchains (Base and Optimism), bringing the total to 6.

So the big picture always remains the same: boosting Inheriti® to new heights.

Together, we embrace opportunities and challenges to secure your financial legacy!

Enjoy your weekend SHAman! 🔮🧙‍♂️
